Have you ever wondered what it would be like to reverse roles with your instructor? What might you do differently (or even the same!) to make your students more engaged? This dream of yours has a chance of coming true, along with a $1,000 grand prize scholarship, with Cengage Learning’s “Instructor for a Day” video contest.
Students are asked to submit a short video to YouTube that answers the question, “How would you engage your students?” if you were the instructor for a day. In a one- to two-minute video, show us what you would do to get your fellow students engaged and involved in the learning process — and don’t hesitate to show off your creativity skills!
Not only will your remarkable work be published on YouTube, but you will have a chance to win the $1,000 grand prize scholarship or one of five $500 scholarships paid on the winner’s behalf to the institution at which they are currently enrolled as a student for the Fall 2014 semester or quarter.
How to enter
1.) Make a creative, original video that’s one to two minutes in length. In the video, show us how you would engage students if you were an instructor.
2.) The explanation of your method of instruction must be clear (Click here for complete rules and detailed selection criteria). Either list the concept in the title of the video or explain it in the video itself. Upload your video to YouTube, and tag it using the hashtag #InstructorForADay.
3.) After uploading your video to YouTube, click the “Enter Now” button before midnight EDT on Sunday May 11, 2014 and include the URL of your YouTube video in the form.
Selection of the Winner
Entries will be judged by a qualified panel of independent judges, based on the following criteria:
- Originality and creativity
- Overall appeal
- Quality and completeness of answer to “How would you engage students?”
- Audio/visual quality
- Overall impact
The independent judges will select ten finalists whose videos will be featured on the Cengage Learning YouTube channel starting Saturday, May 17th, to be voted on publicly which will then determine the ultimate prize winner. The contestant whose video receives the most likes wins!
Now that you’ve learned the rules, you’re ready to enter. Click here to submit your Official Entry Form. Once you have submitted your video on your YouTube app, you can show the video on Cengage Learning’s company page. Good luck!
