In any sense, the goals you set at the beginning of the year need some revision. Don’t fret! Follow these easy steps to reset your expectations and finish the semester strong!

Step 1: Check Your Grades

Remember when A’s, B’s and C’s were nothing more than posters on the kindergarten wall? Little did we know the oh-so-innocent letters at the beginning of the alphabet would bring so much anxiety into our lives. However stressful it is to check, understanding where you stand in each of your classes is so important as you make strong goals for yourself.

Step 2: Pinpoint What’s Not Working

It’s hard to admit, but our parents were right: procrastinating until the last minute on homework just won’t work. If your grades are slipping it’s time for a new study plan. Pick the time of day when you’re most productive and devote it to studying. A new change in your study habits can be very beneficial!

Step 3: Prioritize Your Goals

If your list of goals is too large, it’s hard to keep up with them. Narrow your goals down to two or three attainable goals for the rest of the year—make them SMART. Use your new study habits to prepare yourself for these new goals. Understand how much time is left in the year and make a plan that’ll fit the new timeframe.

Step 4: Schedule Weekly Check-Ups

Writing down goals is one thing, but staying on track is much harder. Make time to review your goals once per week—and make sure you’re staying up-to-date. Don’t let your goals get away from you for a lack of checking. Practice good self-awareness!

With a little bit of hard work and grit, you’re capable of redefining new goals and saving the semester. Don’t give up hope and miss an opportunity turn your GPA around!
